The latest RES-Q+ meeting took place at the University of Murcia, hosted by Catalina Martínez Costa, from April 9th to 11th, bringing together experts from legal, clinical, and technical fields. As the project enters its third year of a four-year timeline, it was a key moment to reflect on the progress made so far. A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement that the Virtual Assistant for Patients (pVA) will soon be tested in hospitals as part of a pilot study.

RES-Q+ team members discussing project progress during the annual meeting in Murcia.
This innovative tool aims to support patients in their recovery by providing easy access to relevant information and personalized advice, as well as offering health monitoring and continuous support, thus enhancing communication between patients and healthcare providers. The pilot study, set to begin in May and last for three months, marks a significant milestone for the project. Emphasis has been placed on user-centered design to ensure the pVA is both easy to use and effective in providing helpful support. The pilot should help ensure that the final clinical study of the pVA, based on the pilot's results, will provide crucial data for creating a tool that truly meets real-world needs.
Additionally, we discussed the ethical use of the AI-based pVA, with a focus on ensuring compliance with legal regulations and the responsible handling of patient data. This is essential for building trust and ensuring that patients feel comfortable using these tools in the future.
The progress made at this meeting represents an important step in advancing stroke care. With the ongoing development of innovative tools like the pVA, the RES-Q+ project aims to streamline treatment and improve patient outcomes. Following the pVA pilot, the team will prepare for testing a virtual assistant for clinicians (cVA), designed to simplify complex tasks. These efforts will ensure the project remains at the forefront of stroke care innovation.
